As the Siemens technical support person for the NW, my responsibilities included providing technical training, configuration, technical sales support, application note, proof of concepts and product demos, troubleshooting and programming. To support the customer base in Washington, Oregon and Idaho I received extensive training in all of the major areas of Siemens automation products which include the following:

Simatic S7, TIA Portal, WinCC6.2 /7.0 and WinCCflex,
S7-200/300/400/1200. Safety PLCs as well as ET200M and S I/O. Sinamics and S7-317T, Starter and Scout ES, Simocode, S120, CU320 and MM440.

Scalance both hardwired and wireless. Profinet and Profibus. 

President, Principal Engineer, 2004—2007

Formed GO-Tek Automation, LLC. Responsible for all aspects of the business, including sales, accounting, marketing, engineering, software development and documentation. Provided high quality control systems in the food and beverage industry, primarily the pasta industry as well as the Pulp and Paper industry. Designed new and retro fit systems to fit the customer’s needs. Provided contract engineering and worked along side the company engineers to provide the experience and help they needed on a project by project basis.

Project Manager and Electrical Engineer, 1993—2004

Project Management:

Responsible for managing projects of all sizes. Assigning work to the people available in my group, setting schedules and budgets for the engineering team to follow, also in charge of customer relations and follow up work. Provide technical assistance to my fellow teammates and help to complete projects on time and under budget. Clarify deliverables in the "scope of work letter or proposal". Coordinating onsite work, meet with clients to both clear up conflict and project kick off. Manage the work force, giving personnel reviews, salary increases, and correct any interpersonal conflicts.

Sales Engineer:

Responsible for contacting and soliciting work from existing customers and new leads. Assessing customer's needs and providing them a complete quotes. Responsible for cold calls, Material take off, material research and new technology coverage, calculating overhead, profit, and contingency. Provide complete and well defined quotes, closing the order, and project handoff.


Responsible for all aspects of control system design and electrical engineering tasks on multiple projects. Perform electrical engineering and controls systems programming for various manufacturers for a systems integrator. Develop control panel design, power distribution and hardware layout to meet NEC, ETL and UL requirements for in house panel shop. Program software for factory automation, process control and data collection SCADA and MES systems. Extensive experience working directly with clients throughout the planning, design, implementation and training process. Experience in the commissioning of new and retrofit systems.

Performed all electrical design and engineering work for new manufacturing lines as lead project engineer. Upgraded and replaced retrofit lines, improving customer's manufacturing production capability and efficiency.

HMI package used Intellution Fix, Wonderware InTouch, and RSView. PLCs proficient at, Allen Bradley PLC2/30, 5series, SLC series, Control Logix, Siemens S5, and S7. TI5 series, Honeywell, Automate, Omron, Koyo. Drives, Allen Bradley VFDs 160,1305,1336,1392. AC servos 9 series controllers. ABB, Reliance and Saftronics drives. Operator interfaces, Allen Bradley Panelview series, Panelmate, Reditouch.

Senior Project Engineer, 1985—1993

Promoted from Electrical Engineer and Project Engineer

Responsible for designing, developing, and managing state-of-the-art systems, involving factory automation and control for the Pulp and Paper industry. Experience consists of designing electrical control systems and software engineering. Designed, wrote and tested extensive PLC programs for all types of pulp and paper equipment at the dry end. Created new and modified existing MMI applications using proprietary early SCADA programs. Where required, designed and started up relay control systems.

Responsibilities included engineering, design and programming on detailed projects. Skilled in the use and configuration of PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, I/O modules, relays, sensors and other control system hardware and equipment.

Mechanical installation included solo installs of pulp and paper handling machines and in some cases entire lines. Responsible for installing bale equipment and was responsible for leading electricians and mechanics during all phases of the install. This also included electrical checkout, PLC programming, mechanical adjustment and start-up. Extensive travel in the US, Canada, South America and Indonesia.

Experienced with Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, and Remote I/O networks and communication. Proficient at programming and tuning PID loops. Provided on site training for plant operators and engineers. Performed start-up for new and modified systems.
